The Game’s Already Won—Take a Knee

Since I don’t have the SEC Network right now because of the YouTube TV and Disney dispute, I’ve found myself watching old game videos online instead. One of them was Miami’s heartbreaking loss last year when Coach Mario Cristobal chose not to kneel in the victory formation. All the Hurricanes had to do was take a knee, run out the clock, and walk off the field with the win. But instead, they ran the ball, fumbled, and lost a game that was already theirs.

It made me think—how often do we do the same thing spiritually?
We keep running, striving, and stressing when the victory has already been secured.

We run the play of worry when we should be resting in trust.
We chase the approval of others when we already have God’s acceptance.
We try to fix what only grace can heal.

All the while, Christ calls us to rest in what He’s finished.

Sometimes faith looks less like charging down the field and more like kneeling—because the game’s already won, and the scoreboard shows victory.

“But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” — 1 Corinthians 15:57

So today, stop running plays you don’t need to. The clock’s on your side. Just kneel—and rest in His victory.
