10,227 Days

Anniversaries are counted by years, but marriage should be measured in days. Ten thousand two hundred twenty-seven days ago, my life changed for the best. The older I get, the more I realize each day with my wife Jenny is a gift from God. The routine of living, of sharing life, with my best friend is an Eden-like oasis in a crazy world.

Most days have been filled with sunshine—some with sorrow. We’ve enjoyed occasional dinners at fine restaurants, but it is the kitchen table where our family shares meals daily that sweetens marriage. Of course, excursions to faraway places are fun, but there is something about just sharing a quiet, ordinary day at home with my bride that I enjoy.

So Jenny, while our friends and family wish us a happy 28th anniversary, I’m thankful that today, like yesterday and 10,226 others, I awakened next to you to share another day God has given us as husband and wife. And I look forward to sharing another 10,227 plus more with you.
